Apple iPod Touch (8GB 2nd Gen)
This is my very first Apple product and I have to say that I am very impressed with it. The touch pad interface is so user friendly that I think it sets a new standard. Of course, I am still in the euphoric phases of getting a new toy but for the past two weeks, I can't really find a downside to this device.
You can download just about anything off the iTunes store and if you browse deep enough you can even find free stuff. I've already downloaded several free games but some of them are trial versions. If you like the App (Software Applications) then you can download the full version.
I would have liked to get the iPhone but I don't really use my cell phone that much. I can connect to the internet with the iTouch if I am near a wi-fi connection and browse the internet or check email. I think the cell phone connection is the only difference between the iPhone and the iTouch. The only thing I wish the iTouch had was a built in microphone so I can record voice messages. I did download a recording App only to find out that it doesn't work. Either that or I'm not familiar enough with it to make it work yet.
If I had a real gripe, I think battery life could be extended more. I found that if I'm playing games or watching a movie on the iTouch with the screen fully lit, it may last me about 3 hours (rough estimate). If I were just listening to music, then I'm guessing it might last 4-5 hours. I never listing to music that long so I'm just guessing at this point. I always hook it up on my computer at work or recharging it in my car so I may have to run a full test one of these days.
I've been researching Apple for the past year and I think I may dump my PC and buy a Mac Book. My experience with PC is that it crashes and gets bogged down after a couple of years. Most of the photographers and graphic designers seem to gravitate towards Apple because it seems to perform better with graphic intensive workloads. If you look at prices, Apples seems to be a lot more expensive than PCs but if you compare it feature by feature, it doesn't cost that much more. By feature, I mean internal hardware such as DVD devices, graphic cards, memory, chasis, etc. I'm pretty set on buying an Mac Book but that all depends on when I can save up enough money.
